The purpose of this systematic review with meta-analysis was to examine the effect of football training on body composition and bone development in children. A search of the online databases PubMed, SPORTDiscus, and Web of Science was conducted between January 1st, 2006 and 17 April 2021 for research articles that reported data on the effects of football practice on fat-free mass, lean body mass (LBM), and bone mineral content (BMC). Articles that met the following criteria were included: (1) participants were boys and girls up to 12 years old; (2) the studies had a minimum intervention duration of 10 weeks; (3) the outcomes measured were markers related to body composition or bone development; and (4) the methods followed were similar for both groups at baseline and following the intervention.
